I was slightly dubious about Rachel Zoe and Co when I first started watching her reality show the Rachel Zoe Project last year. I got the impression that every minute of her job as a stylist was more stressful than that of a heart surgeon. Lots of drama, cattiness (her female assistant Taylor was giving me a major headache) and over-the-top glamour. It seemed like the only person walking on planet earth was Zoe's husband Roger. I gotta admit, all the characters grew on me over time, and particularly Zoe. I have enormous respect for her as a business woman and for being able to spot trends and what can actually sell in the mass market.
Rachelzoe.com is a good example of that. Her blog is divided into sections: accessories, apparel, beauty, jewelry, and lifestyle. You can also ask Rachel questions and she is prompt to answer.
I particularly love the idea that after writing about any clothing item, at the bottom of an article Zoe posts info on a similar piece but for lower price. She calls it Parallel Universe.
And I couldn't agree more with Zoe's mantra: "Style is what one creates...glamour is a state of mind".
What can I say: "I die!"
