Amman - local shop with festive national attire

I just came back from my big ME trip. First stop - Dubai. When I asked the hotel staff to give me a list of local must-sees, all 7 spots were Shopping Malls. Dubai Mall was in the tallest building in the world - Burj Khalifa (200 floors and 828 m). Mind you, I didn't mind visiting the Malls, just didn't know where to start. I got to go to The Mall of Emirates and Dubai Mall, of which Dubai Mall was definitely the most opulent. Section devoted to High End Designers could complete with Champs-Elysees any day! The prices were definitely up to 20% above the Western European prices. I didn't get to do much credit card damage, but trust me, I visited pretty much every store for the purposes of mystery shopping and price comparison :). Observation about local Emirates- every third woman I saw at the Mall was sporting Chanel 2.55...yep..It's definitely the bag du jour. Another observation - I could speak Russian with pretty much every salesperson, which tells me who's their primary customer base.
Second stop - Amman, Jordan. My biggest purchase was 1 dinar perfume in a local perfume shop. You can ask for any perfume you want, Chanel N 5, YSL, whatever - and they will mix it for you on the spot. I opted in for Sultan's (the owner) signature scent - beautiful jasmine scent. I didn't get to visit the shopping malls, but after eating as much as I did, it was probably a good thing! I'm definitely going on a diet starting today.
