Look of the day: Victoria Beckham in Miu Miu

I can't get enough of Miu Miu spring/summer collection and I particularly love Mrs Beckham's girly frock. Birkin and knockout YSL platforms finish the look! Simples...

Economize vs Fantasize: Crystal Skull Ring

Fantasize: Vivienne Westwood: 250.92 (sale price!)

Economize: H by Henry Holland at Debenhams: 9 (50% off now!)

Although I love this Vivienne Westwood silver skull creation, I went for H by Henry Holland ring instead. I bagged it just the other day at Debenhams on Henry Street. The ring is absolutely gorgeous and you can't beat the price! The rest of
H by Henry Holland range was a bit too funky for me, although the swimwear looked appealing.

Oddity of the Day: Bjork in Givenchy frock

Pardon my arrogance, but I'm not sure what Bjork needs more: a decent stylist or a good shrink...in any case this Givenchy frock is simply atrocious! I can't think of anyone pulling it off...This is seriously bad!

Designer Spotlight: John Richmond

John Richmond is an English designer who has dressed the likes of Madonna and Mick Jagger. His Spring/Summer RTW collection has a definitive punk rock vibe to it, and yet it's very elegant. I love the pink and white pant suits and I'm mad about his blazer/t-shirt combinations.

Trend Alert: Sonia Rykiel Platforms

if the it shoe of Spring/Summer season were whimsical Miu Miu platforms, this Fall/Winter its hands down - Sonia Rykiel's creations! I'm in love with them all!

Oddity of the Day: Gaga's grand tumble

I feel for you dear Gaga - it happens to the best of us. Except that few of us parade through Heathrow in sky high platforms...And this outfit - dominatrix gone bad..

Purchase of the Month or Sale Jackpot!

I joined Dublin Summer Sales party a little late, but as they say, better late than never. I walked into Brown Thomas shoe room, aka "the Happy Place", and saw this very last pair of suede Tod's pumps...in my size!. As you can imagine I was one happy customer :). I bought a black pair just like last year and have been wearing all winter long! and yes - you're not seeing things - I paid 79 Euro (GAAAAAASSSP!).
For those of you ladies, who have not yet made it to BT or BT2, I highly recommend, do it soon! Its small pickings out there. BT2 is good for Sonia Rykiel tops and French Sole ballet flats.
When it comes to BT Handbags: I'm afraid my friends bought the very last gorgeous bags standing: gold detail Miu Miu shoulder bag and patent Anya Hindmarch tote. The only other bag worth splurging on is a classic YSL tote in sand color - and there are two left :).
If you are UK size 5 or 6, don't' even bother going to BT shoe room. If you are above size 6 - you are one lucky woman! Happy Shopping!

My Dubai and Amman adventures

one of many Emirates Women with Chanel 2.55

view of the worlds tallest building

view of Dubai from the top of Burj Khalifa

Armani Cafe in Dubai Mall

1 dinar perfume shop in Amman

Amman - local shop with festive national attire

I just came back from my big ME trip. First stop - Dubai. When I asked the hotel staff to give me a list of local must-sees, all 7 spots were Shopping Malls. Dubai Mall was in the tallest building in the world - Burj Khalifa (200 floors and 828 m). Mind you, I didn't mind visiting the Malls, just didn't know where to start. I got to go to The Mall of Emirates and Dubai Mall, of which Dubai Mall was definitely the most opulent. Section devoted to High End Designers could complete with Champs-Elysees any day! The prices were definitely up to 20% above the Western European prices. I didn't get to do much credit card damage, but trust me, I visited pretty much every store for the purposes of mystery shopping and price comparison :). Observation about local Emirates- every third woman I saw at the Mall was sporting Chanel 2.55...yep..It's definitely the bag du jour. Another observation - I could speak Russian with pretty much every salesperson, which tells me who's their primary customer base.
Second stop - Amman, Jordan. My biggest purchase was 1 dinar perfume in a local perfume shop. You can ask for any perfume you want, Chanel N 5, YSL, whatever - and they will mix it for you on the spot. I opted in for Sultan's (the owner) signature scent - beautiful jasmine scent. I didn't get to visit the shopping malls, but after eating as much as I did, it was probably a good thing! I'm definitely going on a diet starting today.

Key trends of Resort 2011 collections would have to be wide leg pant suits and bow blouses. White and baby pink are predominant colors. Monique Lhuillier and Stella McCartney put forth amazing collections. While Monique created an elegant silhouette in wide leg pant suits, Stella came up with absolutely breathtaking exotic flower print. Michael Kors designed pieces which seemed more appropriate for an Alaskan Cruise (mind you, after spending this week in cold and rainy South of France, I wouldn't mind getting cozy in one of his cashmere dresses).

Oddity of the Day: Daphne Guinness in heel-less shoes

This is not the first time Daphne gets on my Oddities roll. Daphne is a queen of epotage and I'm not surprised she's got a pair of heel-less shoes in each color. But I can't say she looks mighly comfortable in those..
