My January Wishlist: or hot sale finds at

ok this Chanel arm-candy is not exactly a Sale find :) but its 30% off and vintage and oh soooo beautiful...

Valentin Yudashkin's Spring 2011 Collection

I've been a fan of Valentin Yudashkin's designs for over a decade - his couture collections and fairy tale gowns are out of this world! Valentin's Spring 2011 collection had a bit of madness factor. I mean explosion of color and pattern is unbelivable! Bright red and fucshia satin and silk frocks reminded me of carnival! Love it!

The Real Stars of the Golden Globes 2011

I don't particularly care for male fashion, nor do I ever look at male actors' style during award shows, but this year I was glued to the screen when I saw Colin, Jake and Jesse. Earlier today, my female colleagues all agreed: forget Hugh Grant, Colin Firth is the perfect man! He is smart, handsome, and above all - a gentleman (well, from what we can tell :)) ! I'm delighted he won a Golden Globe and really hoping he'll bag an Oscar this year. Jake and Jesse - both were fantastic in 'Love and Other Drugs' and 'The Social Network', but afraid you can't compete with Colin :). Both looked good on the red carpet though :).

The Best and the Worst Dressed of the Golden Globes 2011

Worst Dressed

Helena Bonham Carter in Vivienne Westwood monstrosity of a dress proves yet again that money and fame can't buy taste....I can think of one horrific Red Carpet look that tops Helena's: Bjork's swan dress...say no more.

Best Dressed

Anne Hathaway in her Armani Prive gown looks divine back, front and sideways!

Lalla Essaydi's Moroccan fairy tale

I came across photography by Moroccan-born Lalla Essaydi and was blown away. Ms Essaydi takes pictures of Moroccan women wearing clothes which often match the background. It creates magical- 3D effect.

The Best Fashion Jewelry Labels according to Lala

I'm a huge fan of costume/fashion jewelry. When styled right, costume jewelry can take an outfit to a whole new level. You often see stylists, fashion buyers and mag editors sporting a simple classic silhouette with a statement necklace, cuff or cocktail ring. Picture Michelle Obama and her playful floral brooches - they made each outfit stand out and got major media coverage!

The trick with costume jewelry is that it should be over-the-top, even exaggerated. You can play it safe with a simple diamond pendant, but when it comes to fashion bling, you want all those extra chains, links, studs and large semi-precious stones!

My all-time favorite costume jewelry labels are all on a pricier side. I often either wait for sales, scout for designer collaborations (think Erickson Beamon for Target, Lanvin for H&M, Mawi for Asos), head to the High Street for imitations or make my own jewelry :).

The best fashion jewelry on the High Street would have to be from Topshop, Aldo, Banana Republic, Mango and Anthropologie, where you can always find interesting, cheap and cheerful items. Last year I came across this knockout multi-colored chain necklace at Topshop, which could easily complete with Dannijo and Tuleste Market chains. Anthropologie is great for multi-stone dramatic necklaces.

I selected the below designer costume jewelry labels for their statement factor (price range listed is very approximate - check out the suggested sites for exact pricing). Yes - you can always find an interesting piece on the High Street, but I doubt it could compete with exquisite detail of Lanvin's necklaces or creativity of Tom Binns' designs!

Michelle Obama's floral master class!

Nina Garcia - Fashion Director of US Marie Claire - never shies away from a statement necklace!
