Spring Summer 2011 Trend Report

I'm sure many of you have noticed the explosion of color on the High Street. Yep...color blocking is trend du jour and you can't get away from it this summer! In addition to color blocking, there are three other trends dominating the fashion world this season: stripes, exotic prints (fruits..monkeys and such); and large clutch bags! All of the above, bar the large clutch bags, originated with Prada Spring/Summer 2011 collection. Muccia brought the monkeys, bananas, and garments in bright orange, cobalt blue and red stripes, and the High Street followed. As usual, Zara is bang on trend: colorful denim, "Pradaesque" stripy blouses and dresses, and large clutch bags are all there. I picked all my seasonal fixes at Zara and Primark and am all set for this summer. If you want to update your wardrobe I suggest three items:

1) Colorful stripy T or blouse - tons of choice at Zara & H&M.

2) Hot pink, orange, or red jeans (paired with blue or green tank top) - can be found at Zara, Oasis and H&M.

3) Large oversized clutch bag - Zara, Primark, Warehouse.

I personally shy away from large exotic fruit prints (although Zara has a gorgeous Stella inspired fruity top). I would stick to funky costume jewelry instead. Earlier today, I spotted a super cute banana necklace at H&M.
