What to buy during January Sales!

Being a total sales addict, after numerous SALE seasons I realized that very few of my discount finds turn out to be investment pieces. In fact I rarely use most of them! Over time I trained myself (or at least I think I did) to only buy things I would not hesitate paying full price for.

Here are some of the items worth buying on sale in January:

Cashmere coats & Shearling Jackets

Joseph and Maxmara cashmere and cashmere blend coats are definite investment buys! Joseph recently launched online store and kicked off sales in late December. I’m pretty conservative with coat colors and I would opt for black, camel or dark brown.  My other obsession is with shearling coats and gilets. All Saints Mures Jacket (as seen on Nicole Scherzinger) is to die for and 30% discount is a bonus.

Cashmere Knits and Silk Blouses

I adore J.Crew and their bright colors. J.Crew cashmere knitwear is great quality and is often on sale. Silk blouses in neutral or bright colors look beautiful with work or going out wardrobe. I pick J.Crew and Equipment blouses: both can be found on sale now in the UK and US.

Costume Bling

I'm loving Lulu Frost costume jewelry. Her latest collaborations with Whistles and J.Crew are just as gorgeous as the main label. Mawi sunray tube necklace (as seen on Olivia Palermo) is my long time favorite and is now on sale! During sales, I would only buy jewelry I've been eyeing before sales.

Make up bags & brushes

Anya Hindmarch travel accessories may seem pricey, but make for great gifts for jetsetters :). I want them all really bad. Another great sale buy is makeup brush set. Good ones typically cost above £50.

Wallets and Tech Accessories

All my tech accessories and wallets were purchased on sale. My to-go-to label is Mulberry. These wallets will last you decades. I'm a sucker for Smythson  tech accessories which can be found on sale. I also found Ebay to be great for half-price Smythson stationary.

What NOT to go for:

Handbags I bought on sale are the ones I rarely use! If you are lucky, you'll snag a gorgeous designer day bag or clutch on sale. But more often than not, designer handbags with discount are either super expensive to begin with and/or are in odd shapes and colors. Same goes for shoes. I never found classic black or nude pumps by Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin or Prada on sale in my size (other than in pop-up stores). If you're looking for pumps and boots that will go with any outfit and will last you several seasons, you probably won't find them on sale. My rule of thumb is to buy things which will last more than one season. If they happen to be on sale - it's an added bonus. For everything else I go to the High Street.

Happy Shopping :)
